Soft blur, matte finish, no cakiness!

I have pale skin that is on the dryer side, so I’m always nervous about setting powders looking cakey, but this one really didn’t at all. I mainly used it to bake and set my undereyes and it kept everything smooth without creasing or cracking. It helped camouflage some of the dark circles as well. I used it to lightly set the concealer on my blemishes and pimples and it didn't emphasize the texture or rub the products away while dabbing it on. You could obviously still tell I had a pimple, but it wasn't as noticeable as it would normally be. The translucent shade wasn't too dark for my skin (most powders that say translucent are still usually too pink or yellow/orange for me), and it still allowed my skin to show through, which I love. It mattified well without making my skin feel even drier, and I don’t notice it disrupting or moving my foundation or concealer when I apply it. The packaging also feels really nice and luxe, which makes me enjoy using it even more. I typically prefer pressed powders, but I can see this being a product I pick up to use regularly, especially in summer when I need to tone down the dewiness and shine. I haven't noticed any clogged pores or breakouts, which is also a huge plus, since I'm acne-prone. All in all, I genuinely enjoyed this!

Great for matting skin and brighten dark spots

I got the Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Longwearing Translucent Loose Setting Powder from Laura Mercier through Bzz Agent program to test. This was my first time using product from this brand. The packaging looks nice. The color rose was a perfect match for my skin. I have melasma from my pregnancy and some acne scars so always trying to brighten those marks to make them less visible. And my T zone is oily so this powder makes my t zone matted and my dark spots brightened , especially on the forehead. I do wanna say that it doesn’t cover it completely and it does sink into my pores so in close up look, I can see it and sometimes during a long day wear, it doesn’t look that good but with touch ups throughout the day, it gets better. I would definitely recommend this product for those who want to mat their skin and brighten a little bit. With more practice, I think I’ll manage to blend it better so my pores look better under it because comparing to other similar products I used, this made my skin better over longer period of time.

A game changer!

I received this setting powder in rose as part of a promotion in exchange for my honest opinion. This powder is truly a game changer. It doesn’t settle into fine lines or wrinkles, it blurs imperfections, and helps hide dark circles. It isn’t a cakey mess on your skin either. It’s long lasting and your makeup looks good all day. So happy I was turned onto this product.

Dry skin review

Laura Mercier sent me this free sample through the BzzAgent sampling program. I have dry skin that I moisturize pretty well before makeup application to help me not feel dried out. I recieved the Rose color which has a peachy and slightly pink color. I applied this with a clean powder puff, following their instructions to rub it into the puff before pressing it into the skin. I only used it to set my Natasha Denona concealer on my undereye area. It gives a nice finish, but I can feel this mild tight/dry feeling and it looks a little cakey even after applying setting spray. It is also mildly emphasizes the lines in my undereye area and is not as brightening as I would like, but that's personal preference, and I also have a light skin tone. For reference, I typically use Pat McGrath pink pressed powder on my undereyes. Overall, not a bad product but may be better suited for normal-oily skin. I will continue to try working with it, especially as we enter the summer months. I will update if there is any change.

I REALLY wanted to like it…

I REALLY wanted to like this product, but I was underwhelmed at best, then annoyed. Application— it is recommended on the packaging to use a “velour” powderpuff to apply the product and is noted that it’s sold separately. Not a deal breaker, however the price point at which this product is placed warrants its inclusion. Mercier touts it as a Rose tinted translucent setting powder that provides “skin brightening” properties?!? I peeled the seal/sticker and tapped some product into the lid and noted it’s finely milled and has nice silky feel— in my book that equals great control & no risk of over application. Friday afternoon- I tested on bare skin and applied it on only 1/2 of my face to ascertain what kind of color deposit I would see and if there was any appreciable difference. Nope I tried different lights/lighting scenarios and still no difference. I took it up a notch and applied it MUCH more generously- again, nothing. So I promptly removed it. Again, not a deal breaker; it’s a setting powder after all. Yesterday (Monday) I gave it a true test and did a full face at about 7:30am, then applied the setting powder, and went about my day. By the time 17:30 rolled around I had a ZIT on my cheek! It’s important to note that I’ve never had acne as a teen nor through to adulthood and there’s even been a few times where I’ve gone to bed without removing my makeup and did NOT wake up with acne of any sort. 😑 I’m tempted to give it another try over the weekend to see if it’s a one off. If that’s the case I will update you!

New favorite!

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest review. I love this powder! Ive always been a fan of the Laura Mercier setting powders and I’m happy they have come out with a talc-free version! I received the rose shade and it sets my eyes and face beautifully and leaves a nice finish. I will be buying again!

Mattify without Overly Drying

The Laura Mercier Ultra-Blur Talc-Free Longwearing Translucent Loose Setting Powder in Rose is perfect for my fair to light neutral complexion with its pink and peachy pigments. The formula does a fabulous job of mattifying and shine control without causing my face to be overly dry. I do think at least a mini puff should come with the product but won't take points away for that. A very lovely loose powder on my dry combination skin.

Good update to a great product

I really liked this. I set my under eyes with it and it blurred nicely and did not crease. I also used this to set liquid eyeshadow and I did not lose any color or intensity. I do have normal to dry skin so the slight sheen to this worked quite well for me. I first used this while on vacation and makeup stayed great from morning throughout the night. If you have super oily skin, you’ll likely prefer the original formula, but if you are on the drier side, I absolutely recommend trying this out.

For long lasting perfect makeup

I love thos setting product because after I apply my makeup I apply this and it blurs my makeup for a smooth looking effect. My makeup last all day looking fresh. Definitely recommend this product.
